Hello all and welcome to the captains page. It is with great pleasure......oh lets cut the crap. Its great to be captain this year, lets have a good'un. I hope your handicaps drop as well as the pints did at the end of year party  Still having trouble remembering that night. What I do remember is picking Ronnie as vice captain... good luck this year mate .

This is the place where, each month, I will be having my say and for those whom know me well I can certainly talk bollox with the best of them. I will try to add a little humour as well as address things like the last golf day, highlights, whinges and general banter. Basically if you want to get something across to the members then talk to me. this is the place where not only can I express my sentiments but you can have your say. Enough of the chat lets get on. Oh and by the way I hope you like the old pics of me I found  and yes I really did have hair....!!

Chart Hills

The society got a warm reception from the management and staff at the course. A welcoming board greeted us as we arrived and they couldn't be more accommodating with the breakfast considering the conditions after their unfortunate fire. We wish them a speedy recovery. If you want to know more visit the club website by clicking on the link below.

Well the first golf day got off to a flying start, and it seemed like that too. As Graham said "..no matter how early you arrive there is never enough time.." . From writing the cards to picking the group positions, deciding the prize holes and breakfast all seemed to fly by. It really does give you an appreciation of what has to be done to run the society rather than turning up and sinking a few beers before you play. Consequently we totally forgot the tote and betting (it was the first day) but don't worry we wont forget again. After all the society benefits from your generosity and some lucky git gets some cash.

A couple of members asked if they could play together rather than the day being drawn. We thought this was a nice touch seems as we had a few new members and it was also the first day and it didn't count towards the end of year points. At this point I would like to welcome the new members

Steve Bangs, Ken Jones, Mick Jones and Dan Gay

Good luck this year and hope you enjoy the society.

The day was bitterly cold at times and even a little snow fell !!..just as I was on the tee for the longest drive a blizzard started. Winter this year has not effected the course one bit. The fairways were exceptionally firm with the greens being receptive but true and fast for this time of year. The drainage must be superb but I think the fact the course has some 365 bunkers must be a bonus.

Everybody seemed to be having a great day except for a few hold ups!!!. Please remember, we play stapleford so, keep account of your strokes and points you can score on "each" hole. If you cant score Pick up.  This keeps the game flowing. Apart from this one hick up I hope everybody had a good day and I look forward to Southern Valley on the 1st of April. Don't forget to let Graham know if you will be attending.

Next month I will be doing a seperate review page for each course. The Chart Hill winners are also below, but again, from next month there will be a "Results" page. Each day will go on that page so you can keep an eye on how you are doing. I will also try and get the email up and running again so you can mail your views.

See you next day.

Regards Kirbs
